The housing stock in Geismar

Geismar has the newest housing of any town we serve. The median build year is around 2005, and nearly half of everything here went up between 2000 and 2009. It's also genuinely split: about three quarters conventional single-family, and about a quarter manufactured homes out in the rural stretches. Those are two completely different gutter and roof jobs, and we do both.

Storms and water in Geismar

Geismar's runoff feeds the same Spanish Lake and Bayou Manchac bottleneck that backs up across southern Ascension. The River Road corridor sits on the natural Mississippi ridge, which is the high ground; the interior side toward Manchac is the exposed side. Ida in 2021 did the usual Ascension damage here — lifted shingles, bent carport panels, fascia pulled loose.

The trees here

Live oak and pecan along the river ridge, cypress and bottomland hardwood on the swamp side. If your house backs up to the wet side, expect a heavier and wetter debris load in the gutters than a neighbor a half mile toward the river.
